Vape Dropshipping in Europe — estvape EU B2B vape wholesale guide

Dropshipping vape w Europie: co działa

18+ only · B2B guide for EU vape retailers and distributors considering drop-shipping.

Drop-shipping is the standard playbook in most e-commerce categories: list the product, take the order, let someone else hold the stock. In vaping it is materially harder than in apparel or homeware, for regulatory rather than logistical reasons. This guide sets out where drop-shipping genuinely works in the EU vape market, where it quietly fails, and the compliance question that most operators only discover after a customs letter arrives.

Why vape drop-shipping is not like other categories

Three characteristics make vaping different:

  • The product is age-restricted. The merchant of record carries the age-verification obligation. That obligation cannot be outsourced to a warehouse.
  • The product is notified, not just stocked. Under TPD, the entity placing the product on the EU market must hold the EU-CEG notification. Drop-shipping from a third party’s warehouse does not transfer that obligation away from the seller.
  • Delivery speed is competitive. Consumers buying vapes expect two to four days. A drop-shipper shipping from a distant origin cannot match a local stockist, and the customer blames the brand on the box.

Model A — Domestic drop-shipping inside the EU

You sell to EU consumers, and an EU-warehouse distributor ships on your behalf, under your label, with same-day despatch. This is the only model that works at scale inside the EU, and it works because the goods are already in free circulation: no customs event, no import declaration, 3–5 working day delivery, and a single EU VAT invoice to you.

Requirements to make it work:

  1. The distributor holds the EU-CEG notification, or you hold it and they ship under your instruction.
  2. Age verification happens at your checkout, before the order reaches the warehouse. Most EU markets now expect a robust age gate, and some require more.
  3. Packaging is neutral, or carries your branding — not the distributor’s. Consumers should not be able to identify the wholesaler.
  4. Returns are agreed in advance: who receives the parcel, who inspects, who credits.

Model B — Cross-border from outside the EU

Selling into the EU with fulfilment from outside the EU means every parcel is an import. That carries a customs declaration, potential duties and VAT at the border, and — for a product requiring an EU-CEG notification — a real risk of the consignment being held pending documentation. On low-value consumer parcels the economics are further undermined by the removal of the former VAT exemption on small consignments, which pushed the compliance burden onto the seller.

In practice, cross-border drop-shipping of notified vaping products into the EU is a compliance problem before it is a logistics one. Treat it as unviable for anything other than carefully structured B2B consignments with the notifications pre-filed.

Model C — B2B drop-shipping to non-EU markets

The genuinely useful drop-ship scenario in our network runs the other way: an EU-based seller serving UK, Swiss or Norwegian trade customers without holding local stock. Here the goods move as a documented B2B re-export through a registered importer in the destination market, and the destination’s own rules — not TPD — govern the product. This works well for tier 4 buyers with real volume, and is where we see dropship actually used profitably.

The five questions to settle before you start

  1. Who is the merchant of record, and who holds the notification? Get this in writing. It determines who answers to the authority.
  2. Where does age verification happen? At your checkout, with a recorded method. Not “the courier checks”.
  3. What is the real delivery promise? If you cannot deliver in 3–5 working days inside the EU, the model underperforms holding stock.
  4. What is your cost per order versus holding stock? Drop-shipping usually costs more per unit. It buys working capital freedom and zero dead stock — model whether that trade is worth it at your order volume.
  5. Which markets are excluded? Some member states restrict device types or flavour categories, or prohibit nicotine disposables outright. Your shipping rules must encode that.

When drop-shipping is the wrong answer

If you are doing more than roughly 150 orders a month in one country, holding local stock almost always wins: lower unit cost at tier 3, faster delivery, control of the unboxing experience, and far simpler returns. Drop-shipping is at its best as a testing tool — validating demand for a range before you commit to inventory — or as a way to serve a secondary market without a second warehouse.

What we offer

Inside the EU we recommend local fulfilment rather than drop-shipping: our warehouse network ships in 3–5 working days from 10 pieces upward, which makes holding a light local stock cheaper than most people assume. For tier 4 buyers serving non-EU destinations, we do operate a drop-ship programme. Talk to your account manager, or read the EU vape wholesale guide for the wider sourcing comparison.
